Yesterday I played a game and witnessed first hand how much mental fitness or lack thereof is the most important asset we can posses.
My team is very good in indoor hockey so we pull off the most thrilling wins. We can be down with less than a minute to go and we always manage to pull off a nail biting win at the very last second.
Yet in outdoor we get one goal scored against us in the first half and it's all over.
Our club has not done well in outdoor for the last 15 years. Do you think we now expect to lose whereas in indoor we expect to win?
What we expect in life often determines the outcome. Our mind will drive us to the finish line. The real question is, is our finish line set at 20 meters, 200 meters or 2000 meters?
Have you ever driven through a fancy neighborhood and not even allowed yourself to think that you'd one day like to live in a house like that? Do you quickly tell yourself that the thought is absurd?
What's so absurd in it? Why is it so crazy to say out loud "I want to live in that house one day" to say "One day I will buy that house"
Why is it so absurd to think that we can deliver a sound beating to the best team in the league?
This week I want to challenge everyone out there to spend some time quietly focusing on what they want. Dream with no limits.
To my hockey team. Let's have a clear picture of the goals we want to score. Which side of the net will it hit? Will you collect it and shoot one time or will you win it, take on a few people and then crack a shot?
Games must be won in the mind before they can be won on the field and life is the biggest game we'd ever play.
Design your winning goal this week.
From my heart and soul to yours.
Have an awesome week.
